llms.txt is a proposed plain-text file at a site's root offering language models a curated, markdown-formatted map of the site's key content. Honest status as of June 2026: roughly 10% of domains have adopted it, but no major AI provider — OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google — has committed to using it, and crawler logs show AI bots request it extremely rarely. Cheap to add, marginal in effect.
