PerplexityBot

PerplexityBot is the crawler that builds Perplexity's search index — the source pool its answer engine cites. Allowing it in robots.txt is required for visibility in Perplexity answers. A second agent, Perplexity-User, fetches pages on demand when a user's question needs live content. Perplexity publishes its crawler IP ranges as a JSON file, so genuine bot traffic can be verified against spoofed user agents.
